Buying a puppy is a major commitment and should be carefully thought through. Beagles typically live 12-15 years and I have known a show Champion who was in excellent health in her early twenties. If possible a fenced in yard is a huge help and makes exercise and housebreaking much easier for the human in this relationship! It is not safe for any dog to run loose unsupervised, and for those that do the consequences are often tragic. City Dwellers can of course enjoy a Beagle in their lives, it just takes more work as the dog will need to be walked several times a day for exercise and "bathroom" activities.
